1:1 ESL FOR ADULTS

1:1 lessons are a great way to target what you need help with and get speaking and conversation practice. These lessons are for beginning to upper-intermediate students. You can learn from the comfort of your home at a time that works for you. I recommend 1-2 lessons per week.

Our lessons include:

  • Conversation practice with personalized feedback.

  • Lessons in grammar, vocabulary, and listening to target the areas you need to improve.

  • An audio recording of my feedback upon request.

  • Customized homework assignments.

  • Curated resources and materials that will help you learn vocabulary for daily conversation along with speaking in a natural way.

1:1 ESL FOR KIDS

For children who speak English as a second language, communicating their needs, participating in lessons, or even playing with others can be frustrating at first. My online lessons are perfect for English learners in Pre-K - 1st grade who need individualized help with phonics, reading, vocabulary, and speaking.

The lessons range from 30 minutes - 60 minutes depending on the age of the student and their ability to focus online. In my online lessons, I help English Language Learners (ELL):

  • Build speaking confidence

  • Learn and use new vocabulary in conversation

  • Master phonics through a step-by-step process

  • Progress towards grade-specific reading standards

I use storytelling, games, flashcards, and conversation games to make the lesson playful and interactive. I use a phonics program called Lively Letters, a research-based reading program that turns plain, abstract letters and sounds into lively characters.

ACCENT MODIFICATION PROGRAM

The Compton Pronunciation of English as a Second Language method, known as P-ESL, is a speech training program for people with foreign accents who face barriers in their personal or professional life. This program, based on over ten years of research in linguistics and teaching, will help you make changes in your speech so people understand you clearly with your accent. The goal is to modify your accent - not eliminate. I’ll help you focus on the sounds that are causing communication problems for you.

What to expect in the Compton P-ESL program?

  • A detailed analysis of your speech.

  • Lifelong access to Compton Audio Lab to practice your target sounds and record your speech.

  • Feedback on your practice recordings.

  • Weekly 1:1 meetings on Zoom.

Would you like to find out if this program is right for you? Complete a free screening, and I’ll get back to you within 1-2 days with feedback on your speech. Rates are based on program length (7-week to 13-weeks depending on your initial assessment).
